Trollhättan
Perhaps you have already driven through on your way there: It’s the city with the countless roundabouts and the high bridge overlooking the former Saab factories.
Trollhättan has just under 50,000 inhabitants and is one of Sweden’s nicer small towns. In addition to the imposing lift bridge, the waterfall is the trademark of the city, which is also the namesake of today’s “Vattenfall” group. Today, the waterfall is piped underground and powers a hydroelectric plant, but regularly the water is channeled through the old ways and pours impressively and at fixed times into the Götaälv – even if only for show. Besides the nice city center, there are still nice parks and trails along the river and at the lock. An example of a route worth seeing can be found behind this link. You can reach Trollhättan from Liane in just under an hour.

Göteborg
Sweden’s second largest city is about 1¾ hours away. But it’s worth it if you like big-city flair and shopping miles, a city with lots of water and relicts of old fortifications, or want to spend a few hours on the roller coasters and rides at Liseberg amusement park.
It would go beyond the scope here to list all the possibilities of the city, especially since everyone has different priorities. But one tip from us would be to use the parking lot at the ferry dock Klippan and from there take the water cab over a nearly 30-minute ride across the Göta Älv to the terminus Lilla Bommen and from there walk into the city. The small passenger ferry runs every half hour during the day and at the price of a bus ticket, which you can pull from the machine on board.
